What?

How and why did Kevin Casey end up photographing this Modernist building during such peculiar hours? And what has his camera unveiled about this extraordinary place and its history?

You are cordially invited to a special, final event to celebrate photographer Kevin Casey’s exhibition, Shouldn’t Throw Stones: The View Of A Night Watchman.

For an afternoon of writing, informal discussion and a walking tour of the Grade-listed, former Pilkingtons Glass HQ, St Helens, join Kevin and his Shouldn’t Throw Stones collaborators, writer and art critic Laura Robertson and Senior Lecturer in Architecture at Liverpool School of Art and Design, Dr Joanne Hudson.

“We will be embarking on a behind-the-scenes highlights tour of this now private building, followed by a supported writing session about your experience, thoughts and feelings”

Starting with an introduction to the exhibition and its motivations, Hudson and Robertson’s research behind the project, and some writing guidelines and ideas, we will be embarking on a behind-the-scenes highlights tour of this now private building, followed by a supported writing session about your experience, thoughts and feelings.

Before the exhibition closes its doors for the final time, write your own responses to the socio-archaeology of this unique building, and the dark corners and artefacts discovered on Casey’s patrols. Talk about your own impressions of Pilks as a historic emblem of this factory town, its atmosphere, its ruins, and its potential future.
