DW Mault reviews Quentin Tarantino’s new violent western, Django Unchained.

With the help of a German bounty hunter and former dentist, Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), freed slave Django (Jamie Foxx) trains to be a bounty hunter. Django uses his freedom to attempt the rescue of his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).

Does it represent a maturity in Tarantino’s work, or is it same-old-same-old from the director who brought us Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill?
