Jeff Young
Profession? Writer.
Tell us more. I’m a dramatist for theatre, radio and TV. I broadcast essays for BBC Radio 3 and collaborate with musicians and artists on spoken word projects, audio installations and performance. My memoir, Ghost Town: a Liverpool Shadowplay, was published in 2020 by Little Toller and was shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards.
What inspires you? Walking. It could be anywhere but cities are the best. I write in my head as I walk and the city seeps into my thoughts.
What do you love about where you live? Liverpool’s architecture and amazing sunsets take my breath away. I also love how the people of this city are so willing to talk to you, to tell you their stories.
What’s your favourite local hangout? The Grapes, Roscoe Street, seat nearest fireplace, late afternoon.
What would your superpower be? To be able to live in the past, present and future all at once. Sometimes I do.
Tell us a secret. I have touched Bob Dylan’s blood.
