Anthony Ellis

Profession: Lecturer.

Tell us about you: I’m a lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), in the art and design school. My research explores the formal properties of written and spoken language. In other words, I do a lot of messing around with words; how they look, how they sound. I also do bits and pieces of writing for magazines.

What inspires you? I guess my main inspirations are other theorists and artists. Outside of that? The world inspires me!

What do you love about where you live? I’m mainly drawn to Ayres Road, Old Trafford, and the surrounding parks. It’s still not too ‘media’ – you don’t have to worry about what’s the latest coffee to order.

Favourite local hangout? Sainsburys, Salford. (I see a lot of artists hanging around in there. You know who you are!)

What would your superpower be? Tele-transportation. Breakfast in Rio, lunch in New York, dinner in Runcorn.

Tell us a secret. I like Enya’s work on ‘LA story’.
