In Pictures: Illustrator Paul Davis

Bleak humour, bad relationships and foolishness all feature in the work of this illustrator/social commentator, who also happens to be headlining this year’s Designival…

Opinionated satirical illustrator Paul Davis is one of the international speakers sharing his wisdom in Liverpool tomorrow, at this year’s mini version of design festival Designival.

Davis, loved by designers and working solidly in illustration since the ’80s, has had work featured in a ridiculously large array of publications, including Dazed & Confused, Creative Review, Time Out, Graphics International, Independent On Sunday, I.D., Arena, Eye Magazine and The Believer, lectures for the RCA and British Council, and has exhibited his work internationally.

Speaking truthfully this week about the difficulties of working with clients (“Clients are thinking too lazy. They’re being too safe – it’s damaging the industry and everything is becoming the same”) and remaining strong in a competitive industry (“It’s never been more important to be strong and never give up. We need to push people, push clients to get good work through”), his talk tomorrow will cover industry pitfalls and soaring heights in, we’re sure, searing honesty.

For now, here’s a collection of our favourite Davis musings…
