DW Mault reviews latest Jake Gyllenhaal vehicle, End of Watch and the new film Alps, from Dogtooth director Giorgos Lanthimos. 

The tale of a pair of police officers on the wrong end of a notorious drug cartel, End of Watch is directed by Training Day writer, David Ayer and stars Jake Gyllenhaal. Now well into the period where films set for awards hit the cinemas, how does it fair amongst the predicted big hitters? Warning, the podcast contains End of Watch spoilers!

Also discussed is Greek film Alps, coming in the wake of director Lanthimos’ breakthrough, multi award winning Dogtooth. Dysfunctional relationships and uncomfortable sex are to the fore in a story perceived to be a satirical comment on the state of modern Greece.

Hosted by director and cineaste DW Mault with special guests Dan Draper and Amy Roberts, the trio also mull over their week in film, including Skyfall, Eric bana, Werner Herzog and PT Anderson’s The Master.
