Film Podcast #12: Amour

DW Mault reviews Austrian film-maker Michael Haneke’s (Hidden, The White Ribbon) new release, Amour.

Described by the Guardian as an “effortlessly graceful picture [that] will come to be seen as one of the greatest films about the confrontation of death and ageing”, the drama follows couple Georges and Anne, both retired music teachers in their eighties. Their musician daughter lives abroad with her family. Suddenly suffering a stroke and a break-in, the couple’s bond of love is undermined and disturbed.

Hosted by director and cineaste DW Mault with special guest Dave Jackson, singer songwriter with The Room, Benny Profane and Dead Cowboys, and writer of Violet City. Tuesday 20 November 2012.

Amour screens at FACT cinema Friday 23 and Sat 24 November 2012 – see website for details
